چکیده

A novel technique to modify a metallic surface for anti-icing applications is presented. An oblique angle deposition (OAD) technique has been used to fabricate metallic nanorods of Aluminum and Tungsten on a glass substrate. A conformal coating of a silane has been applied using a molecular vapor deposition technique. The resulting surface has shown a static contact angle of 1348 with the water droplet. SEM, AFM and XPS have been used to study the surface modification. This is a highly promising approach for anti-icing applications due to its scalability at a very low cost. 2009 Elsevier B.V. The thermal conductivity investigation of nanofluids containing decorated Ag nanorods with Cu nanoparticles using statistical method

In this paper, we investigated the statistical analysis of thermal conductivity of nanofluids containing of decorated Ag nanorods with Cu nanoparticles. For this purpose Ag-Cu hybrid is synthesized and characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD). TEM image shows that Cu nanoparticles successfully decorate on the outer surface of Ag nanorods. Th...

Tailoring Optical Properties of Silicon Nanowires by Au Nanostructure Decorations: Enhanced Raman Scattering and Photodetection

Metallic nanoparticles (NPs) decorated semiconductor nanowires (NWs) heterostructures show significant promise in enhanced optical and opto-electrical properties due to the coupling of surface plasmon to nanowires. Here, we demonstrate a galvanic displacement based strategy to achieve in situ nucleation of Au nanoparticles and then postgrowth into higher order Au nanostructures such as dimers, ...

Unidirectional emissions from dielectric photonic circuits decorated with plasmonic phased antenna arrays∗

Thanks to resonant characteristics of metallic nanoparticles, optical waves scattered from plasmonic nanoantennae can be well tailored in both amplitude and phase. We numerically demonstrate that, by varying the lengths and the lateral positions of gold nanorods in vicinity of a silicon waveguide, unidirectional emissions with typical forward–backward contrast ratio of 15 dB and directivity of ...

The Effect of Annealing Treatment and Atom Layer Deposition to Au/Pt Nanoparticles-Decorated TiO₂ Nanorods as Photocatalysts.

The wide band gap of TiO₂ hinders the utilization of visible light in high-performance photocatalysis. Herein, vertically aligned Ti nanopillar arrays (NPAs) were grown by the glancing angle deposition method (GLAD) and then thermally oxidized into TiO₂ NPAs. The metallic nanoparticles (NPs) were fabricated by successive ion layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method. And we covered ultrathin...

Large-Scale Silica Overcoating of Gold Nanorods with Tunable Shell Thicknesses

Gold nanorods (GNRs) overcoated with SiO2 are of interest for enhancing the shape stability of GNRs during photo-thermal heating, for further functionalization with silanes, and for biomedical applications. While methods have recently been developed for synthesizing GNRs on a large scale, SiO2 overcoating of GNRs is still conducted on a small reaction scale. Here, we report a method for large-s...
